In 2014, Maryland manufacturing was led by chemical manufactures ($5.1 billion), computer and electronic product manufactures ($4.3 billion), food, beverage and tobacco manufactures ($3.4 billion), and plastics and rubber manufactures ($957 million).
In 2017, Diageo, one of the world's largest producers of alcoholic beverages, announced its plan to build a Guinness brewery and taproom in Relay, Baltimore County. This facility would be the company's sole brewery in the United States.
