Born in Jersey City, New Jersey, April 25,1939. Attended St. Peter's Preparatory School, Jersey City, New Jersey; U.S. Military Academy, West Point, B.S., 1961; Iowa State University, M.S. (civil engineering), 1966. Graduate of Army Command and General Staff College. Served in Vietnam, 1967-68, and 1969-70, in command of an Army combat engineer company and as a battalion operations officer. Awarded Legion of Merit (2); Bronze Star Medal (4); Vietnam Service Medal - six campaigns. Engineer fiscal planner and programmer, U.S. Army, Europe, at Heidelberg, Germany, 1976-78. Commander, 8th Armored Engineer Battalion, Ft. Hood, Texas, 1978-81. Facilities Engineer, Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland, 1982-83. Commander, Aberdeen Proving Ground, 1983-84.
