Annual Report to General Assembly due Oct. 1 (Code State Finance & Procurement Article, sec. 14-410).

On October 1, 2010, the Maryland Green Purchasing Committee was created (Chapter 594, Acts of 2010).

For State agencies, the Committee provides information, assistance, and guidelines for environmentally preferable purchasing, so that Maryland is procuring goods and services that have a lesser or reduced impact on human health and the environment.

The Committee publishes and maintains online those environmentally preferable specifications for adoption and use by State agencies. Annually, State agencies must report to the Department of General Services on what percentage its purchase of environmentally preferable products and services is of its gross purchases (Chapter 604, Acts of 2014).

Twelve members constitute the Committee. All serve ex officio (Chapter 604, Acts of 2014; Code State Finance & Procurement Article, secs. 14-409, 14-410).
