In June 2016, the Task Force to Investigate the Challenges of and Opportunities for Minorities in Business was established (Chapter 480, Acts of 2016).
The Task Force is investigating discriminatory practices against minority- and women-owned businesses, including such discrimination against franchisees by franchisors. Further, issues concerned with access to working capital by small, minority and women-owned businesses are being reviewed and examined by the Task Force. These issues include working capital needs; availability of working capital and barriers to it; and what State resources are available to such businesses. Finally, the Task Force is examining and assessing incentives for business entities that employ ex-felons.
Authorization for the Task Force ends June 30, 2018.
