Appointed by the Board of County Commissioners, the Director of the Department is the chief addminstrative officer of the Department (Code Alcoholic Beverages Article, sec. 33-303).

DEPARTMENT OF LIQUOR CONTROL
In Worcester County, the Department of Liquor Control originated as the Liquor Control Board. The Board was abolished in July 2011 and replaced by the Department of Liquor Control (Chapter 304, Acts of 2011). The Department establishes and maintains stores known as County liquor dispensaries for the sale of sparkling or fortified wine and other alcoholic beverages in sealed packages or containers (Code Alcoholic Beverages Article, secs. 33-301 through 33-2802).
