The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) is part of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. With state emergency management agencies, the Agency works through regional offices to ensure that the states are prepared for and able to respond to disasters, natural and otherwise.
Region 3 of the Federal Emergency Management Agency encompasses Maryland, Delaware, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia, and the District of Columbia. Regional staff work through five divisions: Mission Support; Mitigation; National Preparedness; Recovery; and Response.
